Try This For Anxiety.

Blog Feature Image

Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness. It might cause one to sweat, feel restless and tense, and have a rapid heartbeat. This is a natural response from our body towards stress. For example, when faced with a complex problem at work, before taking an exam, or making an important decision.

Anxiety for a prolonged duration can affect us both mentally and physically. It can even lead to panic attacks, breathing problems, and depression.

Physiological Sigh is an exercise for preventing anxiety. It was discovered in the 1930s.

It is a breathing technique to slow your heart rate and regain lost control.

This simple technique follows as under:

  • 2 inhalations from the nose, the first one longer than the second.
  • And a very long extended exhalation from your mouth.

The double inhale helps in getting in more oxygen and offloading more carbon dioxide than normal breathing.

You can do the repetitions based on your personal experience of anxiety.

Try this next time you feel overwhelmed by fear or anxiety. It works best in moments of panic and fear, where our brain becomes anxious and out of control.
