Practice healthy self-talk

The thoughts we entertain and the words we speak to ourselves have a huge impact on our lives. They can set you up for massive success. One powerful way to have healthy self-talk is through affirmations.
Affirmations are statements that can help you overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts. They are not just feel-goody quotes! In order for them to work, you need to follow 3 simple rules:
- Use the present tense - Anything that starts with “I will…,” or “I used to…” isn't really an affirmation. Our brain responds best to the present tense. Therefore, always use 'I am'.
- Negative words don't count— Our brain simply looks for instructions and finds it really hard to understand negative commands like don't or won't. So, instead of saying, "I am not stressed', switch to "I am capable of getting through this." Only consider what you want, not what you don't.
- Say it like it's a fact - Strong affirmations are much more likely to be accepted by the brain. Avoid using words like might or maybe. Even if you don't entirely believe it, this is the language that the brain understands best!
Here are some affirmations to get you started:
- Career: I am excited about my work.
- Relationships: I love myself.
- Health: I am healthy and full of energy.
- Finance: Money flows to me in avalanches of abundance.
Of course, use the rules above and feel free to create your own!
